Hallelujah Whatever
I knew recording an album was hard. But what I underestimated was how hard it would be to record something that truly sounded like me through and through. I’m really proud to say I think I accomplished that on this one. It feels like the right encapsulation of who I am in my 20s, and I wouldn’t change a second of it.
I started writing for this album in August of 2023 and spent nine months of my life recording it. My previous album “Candidate for Cool” had no acoustic guitars on it. This one has only acoustic guitars on it (minus two electric guitar solos, which I’m going to pretend don't exist right now). And that wasn’t by accident. I knew I wanted to record an acoustic-focused album that was a true “songwriter’s album” — an album that my friends would enjoy, songwriters would appreciate, and my friends who are songwriters would freaking love.
The entire album was recorded, mixed, and mastered in my apartment in San Francisco’s Cole Valley.

As much as I love working on my own music, sometimes I just want to close the door to my bedroom, sit down at the piano or grab my guitar, and play some of my favorite songs of all time. Or sometimes I have some behind-the-scenes details about my music or my songwriting process that I want to share. DISCOVERING MUSIC I LOVE...
Since September 2020, I have posted a "Song of the Day" on my Instagram story every day based on whatever song caught my ear that day. It's been a great way to have random interactions with people that have similar music taste, and I have no intent on ever stopping.
