There's few things more humanizing in the office than seeing your boss nervous about meeting with his or her boss. The moment this happens, the previously impenetrable facade of fearlessness they had gets shattered, and you realize almost any disagreement with your superior stems only from the fact that he or she has a superior to please too. A new level of empathy gets unlocked: you're no longer working exclusively to make yourself look good, but to make your boss look good too.
