From 2016 to 2018, I worked at my local pool, the Wood Dale Beach, every summer as a lifeguard. This job required massive amounts responsibility and accountability since 1) we were responsible for people's lives and 2) we would get audited anonymously and randomly by our third-party training organization every month. #2 scared me just enough to ensure #1 wasn't an issue. From soggy pretzels to human waste in all of its glorious forms, I had to do just about every dirty job a pool can offer. However, the people and the laughs made it always tolerable and usually enjoyable.
